MALTA ENJOYS RECORD SUNSHINE IN JUNE
Malta enjoyed the sunniest June ever last month, according to weather experts.
Forecasters said Malta saw 353.8 hours of sunshine in June, around 25 hours more than usual.
A Met Office spokesman said: ‘The days saw an average 11.8 hours of sunshine, with the brightest days on the 10th and 27th each enjoying 13.3 hours of sun, while the dullest day on the 13th had 8.2 hours’.
Temperatures in June rose to an average of 23.6°C, 0.3°C cooler than the 23.9°C norm.
The Met Office at Malta International Airport said the lowest temperature was registered on the first day of June as 15.4°C, with the mercury rising to 30°C on the last day of the month.
The hottest temperature ever recorded this time of the year was on the 13th of June 1997, which rose to a staggering 40.1°C.
